The team is planning to use their feedback

The development team at Bungie has just announced some impressive numbers for the amount of copies Destiny has managed to sell and the amount of time fans are currently spending with the game, and the company is getting ready to see a solid influx of players over the coming Christmas and New Year’s periods.

In the most recent update on the official site, the studio explains that all seasoned players should try and make sure that the so-called Christmas Noobs, who will ask for information about the game and its core mechanics, are comforted and guided by the community so that they are well integrated as soon as possible.

Bungie states, “Take them under your wing. Show them the way. They’ll learn a lot from you. Try not to laugh too hard when they lodge their first, adorable complaint about our old friend Rahool.”

Destiny is a traditional shooter at its core, but it also has some role-playing elements and plenty of social mechanics that some gamers might have trouble with if they do not have all the necessary information.

The developers add, “Keep sharing your stories. Keep posting your feedback. We hear you, and you're helping make Destiny better. Our next update will drop in January. It hopefully includes some stuff you’ve been asking us for. Expect details soon after the holidays.”

It seems that Destiny will not be getting any kind of update before the end of the year, although that might change if a huge problem is reported.

Destiny aims to keep gamers engaged

Bungie has managed to perform the delicate task of launching a new intellectual property that can compete with the biggest series in gaming at the moment.

Now the challenge for the company is to keep players engaged in the long term, which means it has to deliver updates when the community signals a big problem that needs to be solved and to offer expansions that add new content to explore.

The Dark Below was introduced on December 9 and has generally been well received by the community.

Bungie is also working on a second major expansion, called House of Wolves, which will arrive in the summer of next year and will probably also introduce new areas, a major end game raid and an updated level cap for all characters.

Until it comes, the community needs to get over the coming weeks and the expected influx of new players.
