Video games developer Bungie is no longer working with Microsoft on the well-known Halo brand, but the company believes that its new relationship with Activision Blizzard will allow its games to become even better known and increase the reputation of the company.

Speaking to IndustryGamers, Marty O'Donnell has said that Bungie aims to make its name synonymous with quality gaming experiences, similar to the reputation that studios like Valve and Blizzard have attained over the years.

He stated, “I don't think it's Blizzard's way; I don't think it's Valve's way. Blizzard and Valve are pretty successful companies and people know them. If there's a new Valve game I know I'm going to pick it up.”

He added, “We sort of like that Blizzard is... Bungie is around exactly the same time Blizzard was and we've been friends with a lot of those Blizzards guys for years and we have a lot of respect for them and I don't think about individual rock stars in Blizzard as much as I think about Blizzard.”

Bungie has been pretty tight lipped about offering information on its new Activision collaboration, but rumors coming from inside the company are saying that they are working with Blizzard on expanding their MMO abilities, with the eventual goal being the delivery of a massively multiplayer online first-person shooter.

The MMO rumors are supported by the fact that the Activision deal is for no less than 10 years, which might also imply a new universe and a new trilogy of games.

With both Bungie and Blizzard working with Activision, it's improbable that the two companies will compete in the same space, which means that the Bungie project will not be similar to World of Warcraft, which now leads the subscription-based MMO market, or to the already-in-development Titan.
