Moscow scared by alien bastards. One goal - survive!

Russian developer, publisher and distributor of PC games, Buka Entertainment, has announced quite a few games this week. Today. We've just received word from the developer itself that their brand new 3D Action - Adventure game, The Swarm, is in production over at Targem Games' studios.

"What we saw in the movies finally happened," says the developer. "Science-fiction became reality and everybody could see how huge spaceships landed over the main capitals of the world. Aliens attacked at once, killing millions of humans in mere seconds. The governments of the Earth answered to the attack with nuclear weaponry, in a desperate movement for destroying the aliens, at the cost of the planet itself."

Of course, this couldn't be the end of the story. As Buka confirms, "The aliens survived, the Earth became a wasteland, and the sewers, the subway and the basements became the only havens for the remains of humans, which gathered into small groups and gangs in order to survive."

Basically, The Swarm is a 3D adventure game, viewed from a 3rd person perspective, where the player faces the challenge of surviving in a wasted Moscow (of course), scared by the aliens' attack. The player is faced with defending him/herself from the attacks of other humans looking for a piece of food, and, of course, from the alien bastards.

Buka has confirmed the following key features for The Swarm:

- The main character, though starting as a normal human, will be able to assimilate alien skills and characteristics, that will make him more and more powerful to defend himself, though at the cost of his humanity and mental sanity - Develop your character as you wish, choose the alien skills freely, or keep him free of them and focus on the weaponry. - Face huge enemies and bosses, tall as a building which can kill you with a single hit. - Real Moscow shown, under the effects of the alien catastrophe; fight in the demolished Red Square; defend yourself at the doors of the Kremlin of a 50m-tall alien.

Some of the titles Buka is best known for are the Hard Truck series, Fair Strike, Battle Mages, Echelon, The Entente and Pacific Storm. As for Targem Games (the guys currently developing The Swarm), they're responsible for titles such as Battle Mages series, Hard Truck: Apocalypse and Hard Truck Apocalypse: Rise of Clans.

You may download the game's very first trailer right HERE (short but consistent), but do check out the 5 in-game screens we've made available below.

Don't go too far, it looks like Buka's on a roll!
