Buffalo Technology, a leading vendor of consumer storage solutions, has just announced that it has begun shipping its USB 3.0-equipped DriveStation HD-HXU3 external hard drives in the USA. The new drives have been designed to deliver the performance of today's latest hard disk drives, combined with the new USB interface, for faster transfer speeds and better, overall performance. The new drive is available in a range of capacities and will work with USB 2.0-enabled computer systems, thanks to the backwards compatibility of the new USB 3.0 interface.

“Innovation has always been Buffalo Technology's core value and the new DriveStation HD-HXU3 combines both USB 3.0 performance, and the latest hard disk technology to give consumers the fastest, and most reliable solution on the market,” said Ralph Spagnola, vice president of sales at Buffalo Technology. “The DriveStation HD-HXU3 delivers on Buffalo's ongoing commitment in delivering high quality, robust storage solutions to meet the high demands of today's consumers.”

According to the specifications of the HD-HXU3, users will be able to enjoy transfer rates of up to 625MB per second (or five Gbits/s), from a drive that comes in a glossy, black enclosure. The external drive will be available in a choice for 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB of capacity, allowing users to select the amount of storage that they will require from their external storage solution. According to the company, the drive is designed to meet the requirements of creative professionals, power users, and digital content creators.

In addition to the aforementioned specifications and features, it will also be bundled with the Memeo AutoBackup software, thus providing users with a complete storage solution for backing up their personal data. The USB 3.0-enabled 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB DriveStation HD-HXU3 models will be available for US$200, US$250, and US$400, respectively.
