With the Consumer Electronics Show 2010 having closed its gates, it's time to take a look at some of the other announcements that were made public during the aforementioned event. In case you've missed it, Buffalo Technology, one of the world's leading vendors of storage solutions, has recently announced the debut of its new TeraStation WSS network attached storage. Designed to integrate some of the latest solutions in the storage market, the new Buffalo NAS will provide consumers with four quick-swap SATA hard drives.

"Buffalo Technology has been a leader in the SMB storage space and incorporating Windows Storage Server is just the next step," said Ralph Spagnola, vice president of sales at Buffalo Technology. "The latest TeraStation WSS is Buffalo delivering on its ongoing commitment of producing high quality, robust storage solutions to the SMB market that are not only cost effective but are able to meet the high demands of today's business needs."

According to the company, the new NAS has been designed for the SMB space, providing a couple of features that these users should make good use of. The TeraStation III WSS can be equipped with four quick-swap SATA hard drives, a heavy-duty power supply, RAID support, Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 Express Edition and native Active Directory support. In addition, the unit can support a number of protocols, including SMB, NFS, AppleTalk and Netware.

The new NAS device from Buffalo will be available in configurations of 2TB and 4TB, backed by a limited three-year warranty, which apparently includes a toll-free 24/7 technical support. As far as the pricing is concerned, this new NAS doesn't come cheap, with an MSRP of US$1,599 for the 2TB version and a good US$1,999 for the 4TB model. Considering the available features, the price tag of TeraStation III WSS might be a bit over what people are willing to pay for these devices.
