Buffalo has just become one of the fairly few IT companies that actually managed to get a product or several out in the open in recent days, what with most of the IT segments attention focused on figuring out how damaging the Japan disaster was.

That the disaster in Japan will have far-reaching consequences even on the IT market is something that is beyond dispute at this point.

Among other things, global chip production will be impaired or at least disrupted, supply-wise, by 25 percent, while even Intel might fail to follow Moore's law.

Still, some companies and analysts were able to determine other, even unrelated things, like how Android tablets might be bad for their makers.

Through it all, a handful of companies were able to release new products, and Buffalo has now joined their ranks.

What Buffalo did was unleash its new MiniStation and DriveStation storage solutions, them being portable and desktop external hard disk drives, respectively.

The not very portable DriveStation series has both USB 2.0 and 3.0 and is plug-and-play-capable, in versions with capacities of 1 TB, 2 TB (with USB 2.0) or 1 TB, 2 TB and 3 TB (USB 3.0). Backup and any other sort of storage task should be a breeze.

Meanwhile, the MiniStation includes 500 GB and 1 TB models and is made for those that want to carry along photos, music, videos and whatever else.

“Product innovation and engineering excellence have always been at the heart of Buffalo’s core values,” said Paul Hudson, Sales Director Northern Europe at Buffalo Technology.

“Continuing in this tradition, Buffalo is launching a new desktop and portable storage family, providing a balanced blend of reliability, performance and styling at accessible prices for today’s ever growing storage needs.”

The press release didn't mention prices, but this info should be provided once the likes of Amazon and eBuyer, among other, list the HDDs, if they haven't already,
