Adding to its existing collection of external hard drives, enclosures and other types of storage solutions, Buffalo Technology has just unwrapped the latest additions to its direct attached storage line, the DriveStation, namely the DriveStation Axis, DriveStation Duo and DriveStation Quad.

The DriveStation Axis, DriveStation Duo and DriveStation Quad, as their names imply, have one, two and four hard drives on the inside, respectively.

The DriveStation Quad is, obviously, the most expensive of the three and is meant to act as a storage solution for small servers, offices and, of course, consumers seeking large capacities.

The four HDDs inside of it are configured in RAID 0, 5, 10 or Normal mode and support USB 2.0 and eSATA connectivity, for transfer speeds of up to 235 MB/s. Maximum storage space is of 8TB.

The DriveStation Duo also has USB 2.0 and eSATA ports, for transfer rates of up to 225 MB/s, and its two HDDs can be set up in RAID 0 and 1.

HDDs can be inserted, swapped and replaced without the need for tools and maximum capacity is of 4TB.

Finally, the DriveStation Axis is intended for 'value-minded consumers' and can house a 1TB, a 1.5TB or a 2TB HDD. It can be installed vertically or horizontally and connects via USB.

“Consumers and businesses alike have become quite savvy when it comes to protecting mission-critical or personal data such as file backups, work documents, music, photos and videos,” said Ralph Spagnola, vice president of sales at Buffalo Technology.

“Buffalo has always recognized this need and has once again put forth best-in-class storage solutions providing a perfect blend of reliability, performance and flexible features at affordable prices,” he added.

The products should hit stores later this week, and will be priced according to their internal capacity. The Axis will sell for $104.99 (1TB), $124.99 (1.5TB) and $169.99 (2TB). Furthermore, the 2TB and 4TB DriveStation Duo models will be available with prices of $274.99 and $454.99, respectively. Finally, the Quad will come with a tag of $649.99 (4TB) or $1134.99 (8TB).
