Admin should read between the lines of the message

Hackers from Bangladesh have hacked the website of singer Bryan Adams, but unlike other cases, they left no offensive posts; on the contrary, they simply wanted to express their appreciation for the artist and ask him to do another concert in the country in the year to come.

The hackers operate under the name of Cyber-71, and it appears that they have plenty of experience with defacing websites as they posted proof of their deeds on no less than 50 pages on Zone-H archive, a repository for defaced websites.

Their activity on Zone-H starts on June 6, 2014, and simple math shows that the team managed to spoil at least 1,250 websites in a little over six months.

Hackers want another concert of the artist

However, Cyber-71’s activity is focused on warning site administrators that a vulnerability of some sort is present and could potentially be exploited by malicious actors.

This was probably the case with the official website of Bryan Adams too, although the hackers in Bangladesh cared more to express their feelings towards the music of the artist than point out a security hole.

However, I imagine that the administrator was able to read between the lines and take care of the weakness exploited by the hackers.

“You totally rocked our Bangladesh in 2011 world-cup ceremony..we love you so much,” the hackers wrote on the main page of the singer’s website. “We just wanted to give you this message through your website that we Bangladeshis really want to see your rocking concert again in 2015,” they added.

Hopefully the security glitch has been fixed

Posting such a message on official communication channels would have probably went unnoticed, but by sending their love this way, the hackers made sure that Bryan Adams would definitely get it, and maybe make their wish come true.

The website has been cleaned up and is currently back to its normal state. On the official Facebook page, Bryan Adams informed his followers of the incident and apologized for any inconvenience, but he did not reply to the hackers.

The replies to this announcement came mostly from users in Bangladesh, who asked the singer to go past the hack and see the message posted by the hackers instead.
