They say art calls for a lot of sacrifices but perhaps no one knows it better these days than British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, who is actively promoting his latest film, “Bruno.” After suffering a severe reaction to bleach on his nether regions, the star showed last night on the red carpet at the London “Bruno” premiere just the kind of lengths he would go to for the sake of art.

As fans must have already learned by now, Cohen has done all promotion for the film in full character: magazine interviews and photo spreads are with the Austrian fashionista Bruno, as also are all televised appearances and other features. This explains why the actor walked the London red carpet as Bruno – along with a marching band of similarly scantily clad men who danced to the tune of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive.”

However, what impressed the many fans gathered outside was not so much the fact that there was signing and dancing and Bruno’s proclamation of conquering London, but rather his waxed, extremely well kept body. Dressed in the most painfully tight pair of leather hotpants ever seen on a celebrity (male or female), with a red top that showed off his flat abs, black bearskin hat, and high leather military boots, Bruno was the very image of stylishness taken to the extreme. He was also the image of a hairless fashionista, after what must have been many painful hours in the salon.

Cohen’s fiancée and mother of his child Isla Fisher also attended the premiere, but she made no contact with Bruno on the red carpet, reports in the British media say. She arrived alone, looking every bit of stunning in a short grey dress with matching shoes and a daring shade of red lipstick on her lips, posed for pictures and then went inside for the premiere. Bruno arrived only minutes later, surrounded by men who seemed his spitting image and women dressed the same, long legs and toned bodies on full display.

“What’s up London. The Austrians have finally invaded. Let’s hear it for my soldier boys.” Bruno told the crowd as he got up on a pedestal to pose for a couple of fierce pictures, the kind only he can do. Speaking of pictures, the current issue of GQ magazine comes with a hilarious interview with Bruno on all things important (fashion, politics, manscaping, marriage, and so on and so forth) and a photo spread that can make even the most open-minded blush if it weren’t all such a well-orchestrated joke, as we were also telling you yesterday.
