Poll shows dark-haired women are seen as more reliable

For some reason or another, there’s always been this tendency to divide women in categories and then pit each category against each other. This way was born the belief that blondes like to have fun and are generally of a lower IQ, while brunettes are intelligent and redheads extremely passionate. A new survey cited by the Daily Mail shows that men too hold this true.

Brunettes are seen as very reliable and trustworthy, which is why they make for the best marriage material there is. At the opposite poll are, of course, blondes, who are considered easy flirts whose life centers on having fun. Therefore, they’re fun to be around but are certainly not suitable for a longtime, serious commitment. Blondes are also better in bed, men seem to believe, but brunettes are more passionate – in what can’t but be a very interesting twist.

“Some 61 percent said they would prefer to marry a brunette over women with any other hair color. Brunettes were also the most popular choice to have a deep and meaningful conversation with (63 per cent). While 34 per cent of men like the blonde-haired glamour model look, 42 per cent said they actually found brunettes [hotter]. More than half (51 per cent) also think women with dark hair are better kissers, while 47 per cent think they are the most sensual,” the Mail writes of the findings of the poll, conducted on 1,500 men.

“Blondes have always had a reputation for being fun, carefree and adventurous and it seems that can also be applied to relationships, as men think they have the best skills when it comes to the bedroom. But brunettes seem to have every other aspect of a relationship sewn up, right down to the kissing. […] This research stands those with dark hair in good stead for a long-term relationship as they look likely to be the best at keeping their other half entertained and happy as well as managing a home and looking after children,” a spokesperson for Phillips, which conducted the survey, tells the Mail.

The issue that such strict categorizations most often do not apply in real life aside, neither the Mail report nor the spokesperson makes any reference to whether the men in question even considered the fact that women can – and do – dye their hair on a regular basis.
