Since he announced that his 23-year marriage to Kris Jenner had come to an end and that they had decided to separate, Bruce Jenner has been making headlines at a ridiculous rate because of the visible physical transformation he’s been undergoing. Blame the mid-life crisis, says a family source.

While Bruce remains silent on the not-so-subtle tweaks to his appearance, a source close to the Jenner – Kardashian clan is telling People magazine that what the entire world mistook for the process of getting gender reassignment is nothing but a mid-life crisis that manifests itself through an excessive fondness for plastic surgery.

In other words, Bruce isn’t transitioning from male to female, he’s just over-indulging in plastic surgery because he’s positively freaked out that he’s growing old and losing his good looks.

Of course, that doesn’t explain the most recent procedure he’s believed to have had, that of tracheal shave, which meant he had his Adam’s apple shaved off, but it would account for all the other interventions.

“Bruce is definitely concerned about his looks – he always has been. But he’s just doing his thing. He wanted to grow his hair long, so he did. He wants to get manicures, so he gets them. He always hated his Adam’s apple,” says the insider.

Because he’s finally doing all that he wanted, Bruce doesn’t feel like explaining himself to the world in any way, even if that would mean putting an end to those countless rumors about his possible transition.

“He has this, ‘I may be an old man, but I’m cool and young too’ syndrome and no one can tell him otherwise,” the tipster adds.

Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Toby Mayer, who never treated or even met the former Olympian and reality star, believes that he might be suffering from body dysmorphic disorder, judging by the amount of work he’s had done just recently.

“When people have an unusual preoccupation with the way they look, they will never be satisfied. They will always find some flaw on their face that they think [fixing] will restore perfection,” Mayer tells People.

The insider disagrees: “Bruce thinks he looks great. He doesn’t listen to the criticism.”
