Bruce Jenner hasn’t been seen in public in a while, but most media outlets assumed that he was “in hiding” because of the 4-car crash he caused in February, which resulted in the death of a woman. Sources close to the former Olympian are now saying that he’s been in hiding because he’s recovering from plastic surgery.

After struggling for 50 years to hide his true identity from everyone else including himself, Jenner is believed to be in the middle of the process of transitioning to female. A few weeks ago, he underwent breast augmentation surgery, Radar Online has learned.

Bruce “feels like this is the body he has meant to have”

The former Olympian and reality star is yet to address in any way rumors of his transition, but this is probably a PR move meant to guarantee him the highest ratings possible for the debut of his E! docuseries documenting the journey.

His absence from the public eye, when the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner family is putting in the long hours for the promotion of their reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, could also be explained this way.

Another reason for the absence, according to sources close to him speaking to Radar, is that he’s had breast augmentation surgery and is on bedrest. The spy claims the intervention took place “a few weeks ago,” with Bruce being allowed to get out and get active again in another couple of weeks’ time.

“He went with a smaller implant because he didn’t want to look ridiculous,” says the unnamed insider. “Recovery hasn’t been that difficult, but Bruce has had to sleep in a recliner to help with the healing.”

The next stage will start soon

Bruce opted for smaller implants for the time being, with the option to have them upgraded to bigger cups after he’s had full gender reassignment surgery. As per the same source, this should happen sometime in May or June - and Bruce is both excited and scared about what the future holds.

He has everything well planned out, too. Bruce wants to turn himself into a role model and a spokesperson for the LGBT community, offering a voice to all the trans-people going through similar experiences.

To do this, he has decided to appear on the next season of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, which will double as his official introduction to the world as a woman.

Chaz Bono, Cher’s transgender son, appeared on one of the previous seasons of the dancing competition and he brought unprecedented attention to the issue. Bruce will be stepping up the game, since he will be the first famous trans-person to document their transition on camera.
