As rumored a few days ago, former Olympian / reality star Bruce Jenner has landed the cover of Vanity Fair to introduce “Her” to the world: her name is Caitlyn and she gets a 22-page spread, complete with interview and photos, in this month’s issue of the prestigious magazine.

Vanity Fair has released only the cover and the behind-the-scenes video so far, but more photos are available from celebrities who have already been shipped the full issue. You can find them attached to the tweets included below.

“Caitlyn doesn’t have any secrets”

Among the details included in the preview issue are that Caitlyn, formerly known as Bruce, underwent 10-hour feminization surgery that left her wondering if she’d done the right thing, and that now, for the first time in her life, she feels “free.”

Because Bruce came out as a transgender woman only this year, in a 2-hour special with Diane Sawyer, which aired in April, he spent most of his 65-year life hiding a huge, burdening secret.

Caitlyn doesn’t have any of those, she tells the publication. She may have come out later in life than she would have liked it, but this way, she knows she will live the rest of it being true to herself. She didn’t want to be on her deathbed and think “You just blew your entire life” for not coming out at all.

“It's not about the fanfare,” Caitlyn says of the cover, “it's not about people cheering in the stadium, it's not about going down the street and everybody giving you a ‘That a boy, Bruce’ pat on the back, okay? This is about your life. Bruce always had to tell a lie. He was always living that lie. Every day he always had a secret, from morning till night. Caitlyn doesn't have any secrets. As soon as the Vanity Fair cover comes out, I'm free.”

Caitlyn Jenner breaks the Internet

Caitlyn Jenner isn’t just free, she’s also a huge star already. Within 4 hours of the cover coming out on social media, Caitlyn already had over 1 million followers on the Twitter account she’d set up to coincide with the release.

As we speak, the account has over 1.85 million followers and more positive feedback than any of the Kardashians and Jenners put together. Celebrities, LGBT supporters, regular people and even US President Barack Obama have spoken out to congratulate Caitlyn for being so brave as to share her story with the rest of the world.

She will be doing more sharing than just with the full 22-page cover story: this July, E! will be airing a docuseries that will focus on the exact steps of the transition from Bruce to Caitlyn, including getting breast implants and learning to play golf with them, meeting with family members and LGBT leading figures, and adjusting to the new life.

Caitlyn wants to use her story to bring more attention to the LGBT community, stressing the importance of offering more support to other transpeople who are transitioning and who do not have her support system and financial resources.
