Their mother brought the animal home when it was just a cub

By now, one is probably all too familiar with the idea that some people enjoy keeping rather unusual pets. Thus, only a while back we reported on how one family's pet feline was a cheetah, and on how one couple in Canada shared their home with a grizzly bear.

Still, one woman in Latvia did more than just take in an unusual pet and nurture it into adulthood.

As sources report, Velga Vitola raised one wild bear together with her two children, and now thinks of it as just another one of her offspring.

“I raised three children - a son, a daughter, and a bear,” she told members of the press.

To make matters even more interesting, several other animals (starting with hedgehogs and moving all the way up to elks) have been looked after by Vitola over the years.
