Directed by Allen Hughes, “Broken City” tells the story of the corrupt mayor of NYC (Crowe) who hires a somewhat disgraced NYPD cop (Wahlberg) to find out who his wife (Zeta-Jones) has been sleeping with.
The cop does his job and finds out the lover’s identity, delivering incriminatory photos to the mayor when, out of a sudden, he learns he stands accused of murder.
The trailer makes it look as if “Broken City” is more than just a traditional thriller. All three leads promise spectacular performances, while there’s also lots of hope that politics will be more than just an excuse for the action, gunshots and explosions.
“Broken City” premieres on January 18, 2013.
