Another world’s first accomplishment, this time by Broadcom

Broadcom Corporation, a leading company in semiconductors for wired or unwired technologies, is taking it to the next level with its latest chip development. The new product, the BCM4329, is definitely raising the bar for all other Mobile connectivity developers, simply because this new invention not only delivers cost effective combo solutions and lower battery consumption, but also integrates features such as an FM transmitter and a Bluetooth Radio.

Such an addition changes the rules all had to follow until now, while also making new technological horizons clearly visible. Not at all surprisingly, this also puts Broadcom in the top position for becoming the most successful company of its kind, at least for the time being.

Back to the subject at hand, the 802.11n Wi-Fi chip, whose release was actually highly anticipated, also includes, as previously mentioned, an FM transmitter and Bluetooth radio, making for a much more effective combination. As a result, all the devices using this chip now have the ability of reaching data grabbing speeds of up to 50MB/s for 802.11n.

In addition, we can also discuss about the complete IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n system on this device, which also comes along for the ride and takes up the responsibilities of an FM receiver. Yet another difficult function laid to rest by this new chip. Aside from coming in a smaller size than before, Broadcom is also saying that not only does it not destroy your battery, as it was once believed to do, but now uses up even less energy. Such power savings and smaller sizes are surely most relevant for all future handsets.

The BCM 4329 is available to early access customers only for testing, and it is set to be mass-produced sometime next year. No pricing information is available as of now, but feel free to check out Broadcom's website for more details.
