Five months after wife Brittany Murphy passed, her widower, British screenwriter Simon Monjack, whom many considered partly responsible for the death of the actress, was found dead in the bathroom of his home in the Hollywood Hills. According to Entertainment Tonight, Monjack seems to have suffered a heart attack.

After Murphy’s death, Monjack constantly struggled to prove the public that the actress was healthy when she passed, that is, that she didn’t suffer from anorexia or might have had a drug addiction that he enabled. At one point, he even suggested he might consider suing a movie studio for firing Brittany without reason and thus make her even more depressed than she already was. A death investigation has been opened to determine Monjack’s cause of death.

“The widower of Brittany Murphy was found dead at the home the couple once shared in the Hollywood Hills. The Los Angeles Police Department told ET Simon Monjack was pronounced dead late Sunday night. A 911 call was placed to come to the aid of Monjack in the 9 o’clock hour of Sunday night. Resuscitation efforts failed and Monjack passed away from cardiac arrest. Sgt. Louie Lozano of the Los Angeles Police Department told ET that detectives are on the scene to conduct an investigation,” ET Online writes.

As per other reports in the media, Monjack’s body was found by his mother-in-law, Brittany’s mother, who was also the one who called 911 for her daughter. He too was in the bathroom when he lost consciousness, just like Murphy. “Late wife Brittany Murphy died on December 20, 2009 from pneumonia, with other conditions contributing but not directly related to the immediate cause of death being iron deficiency anemia and multiple drug intoxication,” ET further informs.

As of now, details on Monjack’s death are scarce, as an official confirmation by the LAPD is still pending. For more on this, make sure you keep an eye on this space.
