Dolphin MP3 player, full waterproof

Nope, nothing new on the Britney front here, it's just that I was searching for a catchy title for this piece of really interesting news... Now, there already are splash-proof MP3 players around: iPod have this option, it looks that iRiver will also sport such a thing.

Splash-proof is one thing, completely waterproof is a completely different one: it means you can actually dive and the MP3 still works while you enjoy your tunes.

Yep, it's the Japanese this time, too. The Century company have finally released the Dolphin MP3 player, the first truly submersible such unit, with waterproof headphones as well; this way you can do your laps or swim at will during summer AND rock your head off.

Special design straps will tie the 1GB unit even to your swimming goggles while waterproof connectors will bring the sound in your ears; unfortunately, you can't operate/control the MP3 player wile in water but, heck, you're in water for swimming first; music has become a handy (or rather ear-y) accessory!

Anyway, since one battery charge is told to last enough for 8 hours' playback which is much more than you can swim.

The silicon-packed gimmick sells for a rather convenient $108 and this decent price may be the key to its success as it is a seriously half-price compared to the splash-proof iPod Shuffle whose price tag reads $250.

I was first tempted to say it would be a cool device to use under the shower, but wait: while I am showering and want to hear the music I would just crank up the volume in my living room sound gear so it blasts through my entire home while still allowing me to hear other things such as cellphone or police coming in, so I'd just use the Dolphin while scuba diving or simply swimming.

And I would definitely not be listening to Britney!
