Some might say that Simon Cowell's US version of X Factor kicked off on the wrong footing, especially considering that he fired half of his collaborators at the end of the first season. However, given the names now being reportedly considered for replacements, this was probably not a bad thing.

Britney Spears is the latest to be attached to the upcoming season of the show. The Daily Mail reports that she's determined to land a position as judge on X Factor USA.

As we also reported a short while ago, at the end of the first season, no less than 3 collaborators were let go: Steve Jones was fired as host, while Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul lost their judges jobs.

Simon Cowell is now looking for new talent to bring on board and, as per the British publication, he might have set eyes on Britney Spears.

What's even better, insiders note, she too is feeling the same way and wants to be part of the team.

“According to new reports, Britney Spears is the latest name being touted as a possible judge for the X Factor USA judging panel,” the Mail writes.

“The timing is perfect,” says an inside source. “Brit would love to connect with fans on a weekly basis and loves working on TV after several guest appearances on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother.”

As expected, representatives for the show and the pop star were not immediately available for comment but, if fans have their say, Britney would be the perfect candidate for judge.

Fansite BreatheHeavy conducted a poll to determine whether fans would tune in to see their idol help aspiring singers become recording artists – and over 10,000 voted in favor, the Mail writes.

Other names thrown in the mix by the press include that of Mariah Carey (whose husband has already denied she has any interest in the project as a full-time job), Rihanna, Katy Perry, Beyonce and the late Whitney Houston, who was reportedly “in talks” for the job.

At this moment, Beyonce is believed to be the hottest commodity Cowell could ever get and, if we're to believe reports online, he knows it and is willing to pay the big bucks to see it happen.

The music mogul is believed to have offered Beyonce a $500 million (€380.4 million), 5-year contract – and she's considering it, we're told.
