It’s been quite a while that Britney Spears hasn’t shown the kind of confidence she had when shooting for videos for some of her hottest tracks, like “I’m a Slave 4 U” and “Toxic.” However, in her latest video, for the chart-topping single “3” that premiered hours ago on her official page, the pop princess proves to the world that, if there’s anyone happy to be back, she is that person.

As MTV also puts it in a review of the clip, there is no longer any doubt that Britney is back. Shot by Diane Martel earlier this month, the video shows the singer in a series of glamour shots, alternating black and white, and scenes in which she’s surrounded either by male or female dancers. Most importantly – and what must matter for the fans first of all – the just released clip shows that Britney is having fun again, doing what she does best: dancing and basically looking hot.

“The video, shot by director Diane Martel earlier this month, is a series of glamour shots and dance breaks. The video opens with Britney in a sparkly little black dress, spritzing herself with perfume and putting on mascara. Then it cuts to a shot of her holding her hair up provocatively and singing the song’s opening lines: ‘1,2,3/ Not only you and me/ Got 180 degrees/ And I’m caught in between.’ […] Shots of the singer in black and white, wearing a halter-cut leotard in a Steam-filled room, are cut with images of just her legs in lacy tights walking across the screen.” MTV writes of the release.

Whether dancing next to male or female dancers, Britney seems extremely comfortable doing so, the same publication further says. She also looks at and flirts with the camera, smiling that brilliant and confident smile that is so like Britney, as fans put it. The result is a fast-paced video that showcases the very things that made her a star so many years ago: energetic moves, excellent choreography and “in your face” attitude as regards the negativism she’s occasionally showered with in the media.

“Britney also does a lot of dancing in close-up shots, where you can’t fully see her whole body. In some of the dance sequences she’s flanked by male dancers or standing in a lineup of women who do acrobatics on a raised ballerina bar as she sashays around. There are a few moments in the video where Britney’s personality shines. She smiles at the song’s tongue-in-cheek lyrics, particularly when she finishes the song’s bridge about loving multiple people at once.” MTV further says.

Below is the full video for Britney Spears’ “3” single. Expect it to get massive airplay on dedicated channels, critics say.
