14 DAY TRIAL // As season 2 of X Factor US is nearing its air date, anticipation is building up, as expected. Not only did Cowell promise to deliver more to viewers than with the first season, but he also managed to bring on board two of the hottest female pop stars of the moment, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato.
The two, Cowell and fellow judge LA Reid are all featured on the cover of the latest issue of TV Guide, as the photo attached to this article will also confirm.
However, the quotes released so far place most of the emphasis (obviously) on Britney and Demi's experience on the show.
Britney, for instance, says she always had this feeling that she'd be working with Simon one day on a project of this magnitude. Some would call that fate.
“[Simon] was absolutely adorable on the phone, and he is so sweet,” she says of the first time Cowell rang her up to offer her a spot on the panel of judges.
“My makeup artist used to do his makeup, and we were joking around about me doing it. So I guess it was one of those meant-to-be things,” Britney adds.
Demi too is thrilled to be on X Factor but, at the same time, she also admits that a lot of pressure comes with the territory. The fact that she's the youngest judge also adds to that.
“I really feel like being the first young judge on any of these vocal competition shows is a lot of pressure, but at the same time, it’s great because I get to bring in a perspective from the audience that’s around my age,” she explains.
“I was nervous at first because it’s not like I have the experience that L.A., Simon and Britney have. But I know how hard people have to work to get to where they want to be, and I can spot somebody who has talent and who’s memorable and could be a pop star,” Demi goes on to say.
In the same interview, Cowell assures fans that both Demi and Britney are on their best behavior and, most importantly, doing their utmost to find the next huge pop star, which is what the show is all about.
He also jokes that he's always “watching these two,” adding that he never dislikes what he sees.
“It’s quite difficult sometimes when you’ve got singers judging other singers, because they can be selfish. And I’ve watched this very carefully; these two want to find a star,” he says.
The second season of X Factor US premieres next month.
