Britney Spears is extending her current, highly successful music tour in support of her latest album, “Circus,” to incorporate several dates in Australia as well, a post on the singer’s official website confirms. Speculation about this has been making the rounds ever since early April this year, but it is just now that fans have clear confirmation they’re to see Britney for the first time in the Land Down Under as well.

“For the first time in her career Britney Spears will be touring Australia. Britney Spears in association with Dainty Consolidated Entertainment brings ‘The Circus Starring Britney Spears’ Down Under in November. ‘The Circus Starring Britney Spears’ is a first of its kind, incorporating a dazzling display of music, dance, magic and theatrics into the year’s biggest spectacle. With its cast of nearly 50 dancers, magicians, clowns and acrobats and a traveling staff of over 200, the 50 million dollar extravaganza will travel Australia with an unprecedented 60 tons of equipment in 34 trucks for what is sure to be the most electrifying musical event ever.” the official announcement reads.

There will be no less than six dates in November, with Britney herself saying that she couldn’t be happier to take Circus, admittedly the show she is most proud of as of now, to a country where she has never been before but which has always guaranteed her plenty of fan support. The dates are as follows: Perth Burswood Dome (November 6), Melbourne Rod Laver Arena (November 11), Melbourne Rod Laver Arena (November 12), Sydney Acer Arena (November 19), Sydney Acer Arena (November 20) and Brisbane Entertainment Centre (November 24).

As we were also telling you over the weekend, there is a slight chance that Britney might be doing the tour somewhat against her will. Word in the industry has it that, while the star was happy to tour the US, it was her father’s will to add more dates when she would have rather retired home to spend time with her children. The dates in the UK and, now, Australia are Jamie’s idea again, reports claim, since he plans on making as much money off Britney and her comeback as he can.

Speaking of the UK leg of the tour, The Sun says that managers had to seriously cut down ticket prices to fill London’s impressive O2 Arena, so that having empty seats in the house would not ruin Britney’s image. Prices for tickets for this weekend’s shows went down from £100 to a mere £2, which has guaranteed that they were sold out – but that still leaves organizers with a loss of £98 per each ticket sold that will have to be covered otherwise, the British tab says.
