In this day and age, when we all know that it takes a village to make a celebrity red carpet ready, there still are people shocked and even upset to find out that their idol also resorts to these tricks of the trade to look their best. Take Britney Spears for example.

A few days ago, the pop star posted the photo attached to this article to her Instagram account, as a means to thank fans who had shown up for her first Las Vegas shows.

“Wow… perfect audience for the 1st #PieceOfMe show! That was AMAZING! I <3 you Vegas!!!” she wrote, but all fans could focus on where her obviously sprayed on abs.

There’s no denying that Britney is in excellent shape again (anyone would be after training for hours on end for a 2-year Vegas residency), just like there’s no denying that, in the aforementioned photo, she’s rocking some heavy body contouring.

Britney isn’t alone in that either, with two of the biggest examples that pop to mind instantly being those of Gerard Butler in the film “300” from director Zack Snyder (or, better yet, make that the entire male cast of the film) and Mariah Carey on her most recent tours.

However, that’s not to say that Britney (or Gerard or Mariah) isn’t in good shape: it’s just not as good as it appears.

Speaking to Shape magazine, the Princess of Pop credits yoga and cardio for her toned figure, but she’s also been eating much healthier, because she needs to have strength and stamina to be able to keep up with the grueling routine implied by her Vegas residency.

“I'm doing 90 minutes of yoga twice a week in addition to a lot of cardio – hour-long sessions three times a week with my trainer, Tony Martinez,” Britney says.

She has a personal trainer for yoga as well, and she said some time ago that “Sometimes we focus on the core or relaxation, but other times I just kick her butt!,” suggesting that yoga too is challenging.
