A 23-year-old British man who lives at home with his parents has made enough money to buy a luxury sportscar with a mobile phone and a YouTube channel.

Paul Wallace from Watford, Hertfordshire, has earned enough from his YouTube channel “Supercars Of London” to pay a deposit for an Audi R8 and has turned his dream of having his own 180mph (300 km/h) supercar into reality.

The former student started filming supercars driving through London when he was 17. Now he test drives supercars and uploads the videos to YouTube. His channel, which currently has around 55,000 subscribers, has been viewed more than 65 million times and earns him money through associated advertising.

To be more precise, Wallace earns around £1,700 ($2,850 or €2,060) a month from making the videos.

The Audi R8 retails new at around £80,000 ($134,000/€97,000), but he paid £50,000 ($84,000/€60,700) for his six-year-old model. According to Metro, the car has a 4.2-litre V8 engine which gives it a 0-62mph time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 187mph (300 km/h).

In his most recent post, called “My First Supercar,” Wallace proudly presents his purchase saying, “I haven't driven this car yet. I haven't done any miles in it. I haven't driven an Audi R8 on public roads. This is due to the fact that all dealers have insurance for 25 and over. And I'm 23. The fastest car I've driven on the road is my Vauxhall Astra.”
