Young girls use to fantasize a lot about their wedding day. They imagine how the dress and shoes would be, how the venue would be decorated, and what music would be playing in the background.

Maybe newlywed Kate Watkinson was also fantasizing about these things when she was younger, but when she started planning her wedding she had to think about very different things, such as what flippers she would wear and how to put the diving regulator on without messing her hair.

Kate and her new husband Andy got married in The Maldives on March 19 in an adventurous underwater ceremony. The aisle was marked out by dolphin statues blowing bubbles and the couple exchanged vows in front of a table shaped like a manta ray.

Given that the pair obviously could not speak under the water, they held up cards reading “I do,” but as you can see in the video, they then removed their regulators to kiss under the water.

The most amazing thing about underwater weddings is that you don’t have to give up on anything. You can still get photos and have the whole ceremony filmed. Even your guests, if they are up to it, can attend the underwater ceremony.

The British couple's watery wedding took place during their honeymoon in The Maldives, four days after their UK ceremony.

“It really was beautiful down there. It was just amazing, so peaceful,” Andy said about the special event.
