After her stint on ABC's Dancing With the Stars, Bristol Palin's career in showbiz (i.e. reality television) looked very promising. As interest in her fizzled, she started shooting for one but never completed it. She's now back in Alaska.

However, the move to shut herself from the industry is a choice, Bristol herself admits in a new interview with the latest print issue of InTouch Weekly (story via here).

It's not that she's upset that no network is dying to land her for a show – as they did a couple of years ago –, but rather that she's disappointed in the industry and wants out.

It was an incident in September 2011 that determined her to move back home, take her old job back and try to bring a sense of normalcy into her life again, thus abandoning all dreams of a career in showbiz.

As we also noted at the time, Bristol was heckled and verbally assaulted on a night out with friends. She says the incident showed her she was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

“I wasn’t really into the Hollywood thing. After that, I just realized that I was over it. I was ready to come home,” she says.

She's now back in Alaska, working at a dermatologist's office in Anchorage, trying to bring stability into her life again for the sake of her son Tripp.

“He’s going to be starting preschool soon, so we needed to settle into a routine,” she says, adding that the boy's father, Levi Johnston still never visits and never pays alimony.

In the same interview, Bristol opens up about her boyfriend, whom she's been with for the past 3 years. She insists she's saving herself for marriage this time, explaining they never had relations.

“People don’t believe me but it’s true. I’ve gone through hell with guys, so it’s pretty easy,” Bristol says, adding, “He’s awesome with Tripp. It’s nice to have someone who’s happy to help with him.”

As disappointed as she is with showbiz, Bristol doesn't shut that door completely: if there's good money to be made from it and if an offer comes her way, she will not hesitate to honor it.

She needs the money to provide for Tripp, so she doesn't rule out finishing the project she started with Kyle Massey, whom she met while on DWTS.

“I think they’re going to come up here and film in January, but I don’t know the title or the network. Truthfully, I’m not interested in those type of projects, but if it’s going to mean financial security for Tripp, I’ll do it…” Bristol says.
