If you're tired of seeing the same old bedroom every night, why not turn on the romance tap and scent your way to the sweetest deams ever

We may not be aware of it, but most of us spend most of our time in our very own bedrooms - albeit we're asleep for most of that interval, but nevertheless - our bedroom is where we open and close our eyes on the world, and that has got to count for something. It is therefore important that we make sure our little sleep nest is one of those places we hate to leave and long to come back to at night. Of course, most of you will argue that there are nights when we don't really care what color our bedsheets are and whether the pillow cases are rich purple or deep plum - however, let me just tell you this: irrespective of the state of your body or mind, when you crawl in between the sheets, a little fragrance and romance go a long way.

Here's a thought: instead of going to sleep every night in the same boring old bed, why not turn your room into a lavish oriental-style bedroom, with a tent-like bed and lots of flavors and scents inviting you to sleep? It may sound crazy expensive, but with a lot of imagination and a little trip to your local fabric store, you can actually pull this off very easily. Just buy several yards of gauze or any other net fabric, several eye-hooks to screw into the ceiling and your do-it-yourself romantic canopy is half-finished. The idea is to fix the eye-hooks into the ceiling over each of the four corners of your bed, then to draw the fabric through the hooks and above your bed on both sides. Voila!, one romantic canopy, ready made and ready to be accessorized and properly enjoyed. The shade of the canopy and the bedclothes are entirely up to you: you can go for hot pink for an ultra-glam feel, of blend in darker shades such as plum violet, magenta and rich gold for a truly oriental look.

Next comes the "fragrance" part, and that's really up to you and whether you're a kid at heart or a very pampered and pretentious adult - nothing wrong with either choice, of course. There are certain fragrances that your inner child will appreciate more than your adult self, but when it comes to our sleeping habits, we're all pretty much children at heart - with or without the matching teddy-bear pajamas. Some fragrances are more popular with men, others are more popular with women - so here are a few ideas, just to get you started. You can blend them together, mix and match as you see fit - the only rule is that you have to enjoy your choices as much as possible and find the result soothing and comforting.

So, as I was saying - vanilla based or fruity fragrances tend to be popular with children, while women seem to like floral fragrances the most - so why not go with Lilac Blossom, Floral Violet, Honeysuckle Peach or Lilac & Jasmine? Finally, both sexes tend to enjoy fruity flavors, so one of the following suggestions might help: Blackberry Sage, Citrus Cream, Cranberry, Cucumber Melon, Ginger Plum, Lime Kiwi, Mango & Papaya, Peach & Sweet Berries, Strawberry... take your pick and enjoy. That is, sleep tight.
