The folks at Digital Chocolate are expanding their iPhone and iPod touch offerings with the release of a 2D version of Brick Breaker Revolution. Priced much lower than its 3D counterpart, Brick Breaker Revolution includes new music, cool graphics, a classic portrait mode and a built-in level generator, which measures the player’s performance as they complete each level.

“The latest version of Brick Breaker Revolution comes packing heat with a balanced array of power-ups and big boss battles that will challenge everyone,” Trip Hawkins, CEO of Digital Chocolate, said. “The 3D Brick Breaker Revolution title was a hit on Apple’s App Store and the 2D app will deliver similar intensity and fun at a lower pricepoint.”

According to Digital Chocolate, the 3D version (launched in February 2009) became a smash hit earning #1 downloaded status in March 2009 on iPhone and iPod touch. The 2D version now brings users the same gameplay, offering infinite levels and innovative power-ups, but at a lower price. In the game, players control the paddle with the tip of their fingers. Over-the-top visual effects with motion blur, explosions and screen shaking should delight every fan of the block / brick breaking genre.

Best of all, Brick Breaker Revolution generates an infinite amount of levels on-the-fly, according to the player’s skills, which creates endless personalized levels that change with each new session, according to Digital Chocolate.

Priced at $1.99, the 2D version of Brick Breaker Revolution is immediately available for download via Apple’s App Store. The game is compatible with iPhone and iPod touch and requires 2.1 Software Update. A free version of the game is also on its way, offering a limited number of levels and modes. Digital Chocolate has a dozen iPhone and iPod touch games selling in the App Store, all of which can be acquired on a try-before-you-buy basis.
