Ahead of the impending launch of the Nintendo 3DS handheld, the developer and the manufacturer has said that all the players who are getting side effects from playing games on the new device, mainly motion sickness, should take a break from the three-dimensional effect every 30 minutes.

Nintendo says that this will allow the eyes to readjust to the “real” 3D of the world around them and will eliminate any side effects that could ruin their gaming experiences.

The Japanese press reports that Nintendo is making it clear in the country that the 3D effect can affect even those who usually have no problem with motion sickness and that eye fatigue affects all those who use the three-dimensional capabilities of the new Nintendo handheld.

The company has apparently asked those who develop video games for the 3DS to introduce mandatory breaks in the gameplay every 30 minutes to make sure that players are not affected negatively by the new device.

Nintendo previously talked about the dangers that the 3DS posed to children and said that those under the age of six should not play the device with the 3D effect turned on, but an American society made up of optometrists has issues a statement saying that the development of sight in children should not be affected by the 3D.

The Nintendo 3DS is being set for a Japanese launch on February 26 and both the United States and Europe will get it before the end of March.

Nintendo also confirmed the video games that players would be able to get for the new platform on launch day and said that publishers were preparing big releases for the weeks after the release of the device.

Big franchises like Mario, Zelda, Metal Gear, Resident Evil and Dead or Alive have been confirmed as coming to the Nintendo 3DS.
