New puzzler, very few details

Nintendo DS is the perfect place for puzzler games and SouthPeak seems to know that very well as it has announced a new title, Brave: Shaman's Challenge. Since there are no screenshots released yet, we can't say if it manages to make itself remarked out of the tons of puzzlers released on the DS, but we do know one thing - everything is pretty vague right now.

For a game presented as one with an "intricate storyline and thoughtful, strategic gameplay", SouthPeak Games doesn't offer too many details about it, and that is not at all good because nobody would believe it just because it says so. Here's what we know: the player will take the role of a shaman living somewhere in "Native America" and must master Shamanic Arts, learn new powers, and explore dangerous territories in order to... well... we don't exactly know what his mission is, but we would bet all our money on saving the world.

"With all the magic spells, story elements, and various types of gameplay Shaman's Challenge is shaping up to be a considerably deep puzzle game," said John Kaiser III, Creative Manager of Product Development for SouthPeak Games. "We want to leverage the unique controls of the platform to create an instinctive, engaging gameplay experience that fans will be able to get into instantly."

Hopefully, there will be something good out of all this mess. Brave: Shaman's Challenge has the potential of turning into a good title because of its original game world. But if the game developers miss the whole point and only deliver a copy of another puzzler... well... it's their problem, not ours. We hope for the best, though. And we'll see what happens sometime during this summer, when the game gets released, exclusively for the DS.
