Developer Firaxis and publisher 2K Games announce that they are working on a new expansion for the turn-based strategy title Civilization V, called Brave New World, which will be delivered exclusively on the PC during summer.

The list of changes is pretty extensive and includes nine new factions for players to control, each with its unique units to use and buildings to design strategies around.

All of them come complete with their leaders, including Casimir III of Poland, each suited to a strategy that Brave New World will accommodate.

Players will also be able to use a World Congress in order to force votes on trade sanctions and other resolutions that can actually change the way Civilization V is played.

The team is quoted by Eurogamer as saying, “A new lead into the Diplomatic Victory ensures that the end of the game will be more dynamic than ever before.”

Culture is also more important than ever as players will be able to stock up on great artists in order to influence other nations and convince them to bow to their superior civilization level.

Brave New World also introduces International Trade Routes, eight new wonders to create, including the Parthenon, Broadway and the Uffizi.

Sid Meier, the creator of the Civilization franchise and Firaxis leader, states, “After adding a number of great new features to Civilization 5 with the Gods & Kings expansion, the team continued to search for ways to create even more exciting gameplay through new systems and features.”

Players can also select two new scenarios: War Between the States, simulating the American Civil War, and Scrambler for Africa, with unique mechanics linked to colonization.

Civilization V was noted for its new hexagonal design and its one unit per area rule, but failed to impress in the Artificial Intelligence department.
