Combining two or more product types to create a third that is greater than the sum of its parts is done fairly often on the IT market, but Brando's latest invention might leave users wondering at how it came to be and for what it might be used.

Ever since the IT industry became a segment of the worldwide economy in its own right, innovation has been sought with differing degrees of fervor by those involved.

Needless to say, merging two products from more or less the same major category usually comes easiest and proves most useful in the end.

Then again, there are efforts focused around creating less than expected gadgets, such as the one that Brando recently introduced.

The device has, as primary role, the enacting of mouse duties, but it also has a part of its body dedicated to weighing things in a very literal sense.

More specifically, the company implemented a miniature scale, hence the name Brando USB Scale Mouse.

Available for order here, the product, in its normal state, looks like any other mouse, but it is, in fact, composed of a multitude o parts.

The palm cover is the most relevant removable segment, as it can be taken off to reveal a digital scale, one that has both a memory button and a calibration setting.

Capable of weighing between 0.1 grams and 500 grams, it can display the weight in gn, ounces, grams and ct.

Brando used a design that needs a pair of AAA batteries to power the scale, even though the mouse itself directly connects to the PC via a USB cable.

All in all, the Brando USB Scale Mouse measures 120 x 64 x 35 mm (the scale alone occupies 59 x 59 x 20 mm) and has a price of $22. Just what buyers are going to weigh on the scale is entirely up to them.
