"It is a card reader? Perhaps. Is it a Bluetooth dongle? Perhaps. Is it a USB 2.0 hub? Perhaps." In fact it's a new product from Brando that combines all of the above. We're dealing with a card reading, Bluetooth dongle USB 2.0 hub that will make even the most demanding users say "Wow".

As a card reader, the 55 in 1 Bluetooth Card Reader + Hub (as Brando calls it) recognizes just about any type of memory card known to mankind, ranging from the popular Compact Flash or SD Card to the less used T-Flash.

Transfer speed is not a problem with this gizmo, which is USB 2.0 savvy; this means that you have a theoretical bandwidth of up to 480Mbps, although you will never reach it.

As a USB hub, you get three ports, but not all of them are aimed at transferring data. Since there is an increasing number of USB devices whose purpose is most of the time ridiculous, the third port only supplies power and may not be used for data transfer. That is why Brando calls the device a 2-port hub.

And now, for the more interesting part, this combo also acts as a Bluetooth dongle, enabling any Bluetooth device to be connected to a non-Bluetooth PC. The device is Bluetooth specification V1.6 compliant and can save you a lot of trouble when you want to quickly transfer files from and to PDAs or mobile phones.

Regarding range, Brando says that devices can wirelessly operate within 20 meters, but you should take this with a proverbial grain of salt, as it is a well known fact that producers tend to overrate their products.

Considering the specs, the Brando 55 in 1 Bluetooth Card Reader + Hub comes with a very accessible price, $30 to be more precise.
