The Last Remnant looks and feels like another FF game

We can understand that, once a successful formula has been found by a game developer, it can be used a bit in other projects, but I am totally against calling "new game" a title that is actually something already done. This is the problem with The Last Remnant, a RPG presented as a brand new original IP - it has Final Fantasy's signature everywhere. Still, this doesn't seem to be a problem, since the game will be shipped on Xbox 360 consoles on the 20th of November this year, while the PS3 owners will have to wait a bit longer as the date is still "to be announced".

The story is a "brand new" one, too: ancient times, mysterious artifacts offering huge powers to their owners, war, destruction and everything starting all over again one thousand years later. But things don't stop here, since an even more "original" story follows: you are Rush, an innocent Eulam Island inhabitant, unaware of what the ancient Remnant artifacts are. One day marks the beginning of your new life: your sister Irina is kidnapped by some mysterious soldiers and, just like any brother would do in such a situation, you grab your sword and go into the wild to save her. You know the rest: level ups, parties, monsters and button mashing.

Among the features presented along with the screenshots below at the E3 media summit, Square Enix told us we'd have groundbreaking graphics (and they are right on the matter), massive battlefields to explore and conquer, as well as a never-seen-before battle command system (I am tempted not to believe that, sorry!). I see just another Final Fantasy game - which will surely prove to be OK with the fans of the franchise, so Square Enix will win this fight. But it will definitely not earn my respect, since you can't call something like The Last Remnant a brand new game...

Anyway, if you're interested in knowing how this game will look like, check the screens below. I'm just wondering how long it will take until a prankster posts them on NeoGaf saying, "OMG, they've changed FF XIII!".
