From time to time, we're able to find all sorts of interesting things related to yet-unreleased products from FCC fillings, and that's also the case right now, with a completely unknown Skylight Slate from Lenovo paying a visit to the respective US authority.

As those of you with a penchant for tablets probably know already, the “Slate” moniker is typically associated to such an ultra-portable computing system that runs the Windows 7 OS, but, unfortunately, there's absolutely no info available from the FCC filling whether this is the case (or not) as far as the Lenovo Skylight is concerned, according to a report by Tablets-Planet.

The prospects of Lenovo releasing a brand-new Internet tablet, regardless of whether it runs the Android or Windows 7 operating systems, are actually quite exciting, given the fact that, after all, we're talking about one of the world's top mobile computing solutions' manufacturers, whose line of notebooks is praised by business users from all over the world.

On the other hand, the sad truth is that we might not even be talking about a brand-new product, but rather about the re-branding of an existing one, namely Lenovo's LePad tablet.

As some of you might know already, Lenovo already released on the Chinese market its LePad Internet tablet, running Android 2.2 and being powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU running at 1.3 Ghz, so, it's actually quite possible that Lenovo's Skylight Slate might only be the name under which the LePad will be available on the US market (given the fact that the French-sounding original name might actually deter some possible customers from purchasing it).

Unfortunately, for the time being, there are way too many unknown elements to pass judgment on what exactly is the deal with the Skylight Slate, so only time will tell whether we're talking about the LePad in disguise or a brand new product.
