Bradley Cooper never even came close to dating Taylor Swift, he tells Howard Stern

Precisely one year ago, word got out that Taylor Swift had set her sights on a new man, after Harry Styles of One Direction broke her heart: the older (by 16 years) Bradley Cooper. Admittedly, she moved to secure a date with him immediately but was shot down.

Cooper is now promoting his latest film, the Clint Eastwood-directed “American Sniper,” for which he’s said to be in the running for a Best Actor Oscar nomination, and he stopped by Howard Stern’s radio show to discuss his career and certain aspects of his personal life.

This Taylor Swift rumored romance also came up.

No truth to the rumors

As is the case with most Taylor Swift romance reports, this one too was fake. An audio of this segment of the interview is available on SoundCloud, but *please be advised that it contains graphic language that might offend – and it proves that Cooper and Swift never had anything in common.

As per the report, she used her friendship with Jennifer Lawrence to ask Cooper out (Lawrence is one of his good friends as well), but he turned her down on the basis that she was too young and he was looking for something more serious than just a fling.

That never happened: Cooper says that he never got a call from Taylor asking him out. Moreover, he adds, contrary to popular belief, he doesn’t have women throwing themselves at him when they see him in the street.

A diplomatic answer to Stern’s questions

Howard Stern doesn’t believe that Bradley Cooper doesn’t drown in attention from the ladies, considering his rise to worldwide fame (and credibility as an actor) and the fact that he’s been named the sexiest man of the year by various publications in the past.

He’s convinced that Cooper and Taylor would made a “great couple” despite the age-gap, he tells him. Cooper’s response is amazing in its diplomacy.

“You would like to see that?” he asks Stern. “Really? You know her?” Then, when the talk show host responds that he only met Taylor at a game “for like 2 seconds,” he drives the point home with “Then how would you know we’d be good together?”

Bradley Cooper has been working in the industry for a very long time, and for the most part, he’s managed to keep his personal life to himself, out of the tabloids and the glossies. It’s answers like this one that help him a lot when he’s cornered in TV or radio interviews – and it’s dignified behavior of this type that helps him keep the focus on what really matters: his work.
