14 DAY TRIAL // Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, for long Hollywood’s golden couple in terms of sheer star power and the kind of media attention they could command, have finally decided to call quits on their romance. Brad is currently in California alone, preparing for the promo tour for Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds,” while Angelina is in New York. The two are no longer even speaking to each other, the National Enquirer says.
According to the tabloid, things have been bad between Pitt and Jolie. In fact, things have been so bad that they only lasted this long for the sake of publicity and not to inflict unnecessary harm on their work, namely “Basterds” for Pitt and the yet unfinished “Salt” for Angelina, claims the tab, citing reportedly reliable sources close to the two. Even their most recent joint public appearance, at the Cannes Film Festival, was nothing more than a façade for the media, since even back then they were not on speaking terms.
“After months of behind-the-scenes battles, it’s finally over between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Hollywood’s most glamorous power couple – who never married despite having six children – have grown tired of trying to gloss over their problems following five tumultuous years together, say sources. Brad and Angelina are going their separate ways with the hope of reuniting in the future if they can repair their volatile relationship, disclosed an insider.” the Enquirer writes in today’s issue.
The tabloid, known both for breaking stories that no other tab could, and for tiptoeing around the truth and coming up with downright absurd stories, also got a source to “officially” confirm the split. “They will make it official. It looks like Brad will be shooting two movies in California and in the Amazon, while Angelina is retreating to their French chateau with the rest of the family. It’s an official split.” says an unnamed friend of the couple.
However, despite this being an official split, Brad and Angelina are not yet ready to shout it to the world, since they still have financial interests in keeping up a united front. So, what they’re actually doing is going on a break, hints the insider, until they either realize it’s over for good and move on, or they understand they’re meant to be together. Chances are it’s going to be the former, the same spy explains.
