Brad Pitt will not retire from acting when he turns 50, even though he said so in a recent interview. In a new statement to the press, the actor goes back on his previous comment to explain that his words were taken too literally.

As we also informed you yesterday, Brad was asked whether he saw himself as an actor for the long run, to which he replied that he'd only be doing it for another 3 years.

After that, he said, he wanted to focus on other aspects of moviemaking, such as producing.

“Three years. I am really enjoying the producing side and development of stories and putting those pieces together. Getting stories to the plate that might have had a tougher times otherwise,” were his exact words.

Speaking with The Telegraph now, Brad says that people took his words too literally: he wasn't setting an exact deadline, he was simply suggesting that he didn't plan on staying in front of the camera for that much longer.

“I wasn’t actually putting an exact deadline on my expiration date [in Australia's 60 Minutes interview], but I see it coming. I just have other interests and I do quite enjoy the production side,” the actor explains.

To those who claimed that he was thinking of retiring at 50 because he thought he was “old,” Brad says the idea is to expand his career, not put a limit to it by thinking of his age in these terms.

“Me, personally I like aging. With age comes wisdom and I have said it before and I say it again, I will take wisdom over youth any day,” Pitt says.

“I think certainly, being a father has changed everything for me as far as perspective and interest, taking care of myself and wanting to be around for them,” the actor adds.
