“I just wanted to do a film my boys could see before they turned 18”

Many fans were probably surprised to hear that Brad Pitt would agree to a zombie flick. Now promoting it, the actor explains why he decided he wanted to give an already spent genre a go.

Pitt was at CinemaCon 2013 the other day and, Deadline reports, he also explained why he really wanted to do “World War Z.”

“This whole thing started because I just wanted to do a film my boys could see before they turned 18, one they liked anyway and they loved Zombies. So we settled on Max Brooks’ book called ‘World War Z.’ We were faced with two Herculean challenges,” Pitt says.

“How do we keep the global spectacular dynamic scope of the book and how do we originate a Zombie film that’s been done quite often and really really well? What you are about to see is our answer to those two questions. We got a little carried away. I think you are going to like this as much as my boys are going to,” he adds.

In the early stages of production, the film ran into several obstacles, including re-writes, re-shoots, and budget problems. This is one of the reasons why industry people are somewhat skeptic about it – well, that and the fact that the trailers included very unconvincing CGI.
