Do you remember Batman's subwoofer? The one he secretly used to put to work in order to wreck the plans of the most dangerous villains? Well, that particular subwoofer from JL Audio was so expensive that only Batman and some other very rich people could actually afford it; now, with its capabilities well tested over a longer period of time, JL Audio decided it was just nice that they released a suitable sequel for the devastating Gotham bass speaker, but with a less superhero price tag. And so it came that the Fathom F212 was born.

There are a lot of fresh and improved things in this amazing bass machine, starting from the new generation of 12W7 subwoofer drivers and ending with the exquisite design.

We're talking about better magnetic motors for the drivers, with increased efficiency and a more precise operation; JL Audio even claim that the new performance specs of their actual drivers exceed that coming from a pair of F112. The Fathom boasts an immense digital amplifier which is capable to deliver a wall-wrecking 3,000W power that will make your whole residence shake and tremble as it goes between a 97 Hz upper frequency range and a quaking 20 Hz lower shelf.

The JL Audio Fathom F212 sports advanced controls which have been designed to let you obtain the best possible bass performance in your room. You can choose between 0 and 180 degrees polarity and can tweak your low frequency rumble using the 0-280 degree variable phase control. And with an (also) variable crossover frequency going as high as 130 Hz, the JL Audio Fathom F212 is sure to be easy to integrate in almost any existing setting.

Such a frightening bass machine comes equipped with dual 12” drivers with very large voice coils and weighs in at 220 lb (99,66 Kg). You also get the high-class ARO system with your Fathom F212: ARO stands for Automatic Room Optimization and is a self-calibration system which trims the bass response accordingly, based on the reception from the laboratory-grade professional microphone supplied with the speaker.

The JL Audio Fathom F212 will start shipping the next month (which is really close, now) and will be available for $6,000 in the satin black version. The high-gloss model will set you back one hundred bucks more.
