In an attempt to prove that European brands have something to say in the tablet story, device manufacturer bq has just announced it was launching a new Windows 8 tablet, called the Tesla W8.

Take a look at the images and video (in Spanish, but you'll get to see to what is included) we have posted and you’ll be able to see the bq tablet features a classic, stylish design. So let’s see what the Tesla brings in terms of specifications.

The tablet features a 10.1-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and draws power from an Intel Atom Z2760 from the Clover Trail platform clocked at 1.8GHz and coupled with 2GB of RAM.

Bq awards 32GB of storage, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and SD card slot, basically everything you might expect from a middle-range product like this.

The battery is a pretty powerful one (6200 mAh) so it should sustain a long and prosperous life cycle for the Tesla. The product runs Windows 8 out of the box and appears to be coming from Spain.

The tablet only weighs 650 g / 1.4 lbs so it will make for a prefect travel companion regardless if you need it to complete your work tasks or just enjoy some entertainment time.

Bear in mind that the much smaller Dell Venue 8 Pro weighs 395 g / 0.8 lbs instead. More than that, the Tesla W8 is also super sleek, with its 10.5 mm / 0.41 inches thickness.

The Tesla W8 ships for a decent €329 / $453 and can be purchased off the official bq store, but so far only a select few markets have been added. More will certainly be added soon.

Note that the tablet doesn't seem to sport any additional keyboard dock, so you’ll have to make-do only with the touchscreen, a detail that might not appeal to more demanding users.
