The upcoming action role-playing game Bound by Flame, coming to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 from French developers Spiders Studio, has just received a nifty combat demo video, showing footage from the PS4 version of the title.

The short but effective and action-packed video comes via the PlayStation Blog, where Spiders Studio Producer Walid Miled highlights the upcoming game's combat mechanics.

The game's combat system allows you to instantly switch between two stances, such as Fighter with heavy weapons or Ranger with dual wield daggers, and use destructive pyromancer powers with either of the two, affording considerable flexibility and the possibility to adapt on the fly to whatever enemy you face.

The wide array of weaponry available in Bound by Flame ensures that players have ample possibilities when it comes down to murdering monsters, from smashing their foes with a hammer to sneaky double dagger action and even long range attacks, combined with the option to unleash your inner demon and lay waste to your opponents with the lethal elemental powers of a pyromancer.

The video shows no special effects, no editing, no cutscenes, presenting a full 2 minutes of pure hectic gameplay footage, giving players a taste of what combat will look like in the upcoming action role-playing game, offering a glimpse into the world of possibilities in Bound by Flame.

Fireballs, crossbows, stealth, two-handed axes and hammers, dual wielding a pair of daggers, blocking, kicking in order to throw opponents off balance, being kicked for the same effect, power attacks, real-time dodging, the game seems to have it all and provide a dynamic and skill-testing combat experience.

The video also shows some of the creatures that players will be facing throughout the game, each one with its own different characteristics, strengths and weaknesses and behavior in combat.

Spiders Studio has also hinted at a future video that will provide an epic demonstration of all the different fighting styles and combat mechanics.

The game will also come with a complex crafting and visual customization system, which employs various materials that players will find during their adventures, constituting the basic elements required to craft weapons, armor, traps, ammo or potions, items which will prove instrumental to victory.

The crafting system can also be employed to confer a unique depth to the character's appearance, with armor having up to three slots which can be upgraded in order to affect what your avatar looks like.

Bound by Flame is due out worldwide on May 9, for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 home entertainment systems by Sony.
