Kerry Campbell grabbed headlines from around the world when she went on Good Morning America and admitted that she would give her 8-year-old daughter Botox injections and waxing. Her daughter has been removed from her care over the weekend.

The story broke in The Sun, and Campbell agreed to do GMA because she wanted to set the record straight and show that what she was doing was by no means out of the ordinary in the kiddie beauty pageant world, her cousin tells ABC News.

Regardless of her motives for injecting her daughter with Botox and giving her regular waxes, an investigation was launched – and it culminated with the removal of 8-year-old Britney from her mother’s care.

According to reports online, the child is now with a friend of the family and is doing fine considering everything that’s been happening in her life these past few days.

Campbell’s cousin doesn’t say how Kerry is dealing with the situation, but she does imply that the plan to clear her name backfired: she did GMA to reveal some of the practices at beauty pageants and, hopefully, to put an end to them.

However, this is not consistent with what Kerry herself said on the show, since she insisted a lot that she wasn’t doing anything wrong because it was what other moms too did.

Moreover, Kerry claimed that the procedure was harmless: she was doing it on herself too and Britney herself had gotten so used to it that she would often ask her for it, as we also informed you at the time.

“We were getting into the pageants. I knew she was complaining about her face, having wrinkles, and things like that. When I brought it up to Britney she was all for it,” Kerry said in the interview.

“The few times that we did it, it would lessen the lines. They wouldn’t completely disappear, she’s a kid. And we don’t do so much to where it’s going to make a big difference. Just on the lines,” she added.

Days after the interview aired, amidst cries of outrage that a mother would inject a healthy 8-year-old child with Botox, authorities launched an investigation into the matter.
