The upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary edition and Halo 4 are both going to evoke the original Halo experience, as 343 Industries, the studio in charge of the franchise, is trying to once again bring the series back to its roots.

Halo fans were treated at last month's E3 2011 conference with plenty of big news, from the announcement that the original Halo: Combat Evolved is going to be remastered in high definition in the form of an Anniversary edition, and that a brand new trilogy will start next year, with Halo 4.

Both these titles are going to get the series back to its roots, with Halo 4 in particular, at least according to Microsoft's Xbox entertainment UK director Stephen McGill.

"One of the key things with Halo 4 is going back to what made it amazing for people playing the first Halo," McGill said to MCV, who emphasized that the new game, alongside the upcoming HD remake, is going to be a great introduction into the franchise for lots of new players, as well as existing ones that didn't get a chance to enjoy the first one.

"The people who are 18 years old now were only eight when Halo appeared. They probably didn't play it. That's the opportunity the Anniversary pack and then Halo 4 have," he said.

McGill also revealed that the Anniversary game will be a great way to showcase just how far the Xbox platform has come.

"The tenth anniversary is huge and is a product of great passion. It's important we celebrate this - the game itself was a huge milestone for us and kickstarted the platform in a lot of ways. But the platform has evolved dramatically in that time, so it's worth going back to show how it still stands up as a product made today."

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary edition is set to appear on November 15, exclusively for the Xbox 360, while Halo 4 is going to arrive next year.
