A new gameplay video from the upcoming Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! has emerged on the Internet, showcasing more of the patented crazy action and profound humor of the first-person shooter.

The video game is meant to offer the origin story of Handsome Jack, Borderlands 2's main villain, explaining how he got to be the way he is and showing his rise to power as supreme leader of Pandora.

The events in the game take places after the ones in the original Borderlands but before its sequel, hence the wacky title.

The action takes place on Pandora's moon and, as a consequence of that, various new gameplay elements sneakily made their way into the game, such as oxygen masks, freeze guns and a lot of knocking stuff around in the low-gravity environment.

The latest gameplay reveal comes from Eurogamer, that has released a Let's Play video showing 12 minutes of action-packed footage on Pandora's moon. The video highlights some of the new weapons and interactions that the game has to offer, including scrambling for atmosphere generators in order to top up oxygen as well as Athena's Captain America-style shield throw.

In addition to this, due to the low gravity on the moon, you can employ some boosts while in the air, in order to gain better movement control, but the controlled bursts will deplete your oxygen supply.

Just like in the first two games, there are a ton of rocks to smash, which will either give you cash or bullets, or open a small cache of oxygen, or even unleash a geyser that will propel you into the air – so to speak, as the moon is devoid of atmosphere.

Gearbox Software's Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is being co-developed by 2K Australia, and is slated for release in October this year, for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms.

It's going to be interesting to see how well the upcoming entry in the Borderlands franchise fares, considering it's not coming to either the Xbox One or PlayStation 4, which are all the rage when it comes to big cross-platform titles.

Furthermore, the game's coming out in October, when everyone who is interested in shooters will most likely be busy playing Bungie's Destiny. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel does have a pretty big audience looking forward to it though, and it's also a lot more exciting than the rather conservative Destiny, with a clear emphasis on fun and over-the-top moments, so it certainly won't be a flop.
