Video game developer Gearbox and 2K Games are announcing that they will launch an entirely new campaign for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel called Claptastic Voyage on March 24 on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, which will be offered alongside a new Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2.

The new story will focus on Handsome Jack once again, as he discovers a secret linked to the mind of Claptrap, the mascot of the series.

The official announcement says that the Vault Haunters will need to enter the mind of the robot and "find the mysterious 'H-Source' code and get out of Claptrap’s consciousness without going completely insane. These anti-heroes will have to deal with Claptrap’s personal insecurities, his malware, and digital representations of his crushing loneliness."

New environments and new characters will be included and gamers will be able to get more items to use and will also discover Achievements and Trophies.

Gearbox is also using Claptastic Voyage to introduce a new customizable combat arena to Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, allowing players to set the way gravity works and to select the capabilities of their enemies.

The Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 will increase the level cap for all characters to 70, which means that 10 new skill points can be used to improve their abilities.

Gamers who have the Season Pass will get everything for free and others will have to pay 9.99 dollars or Euro for the campaign.

Gearbox is working on an entirely new Borderlands

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is just a stopgap measure, as the development team at Gearbox works on a full sequel for the series, which will probably be officially announced before the end of 2015.

The game has managed to introduce some new elements to the series, like low gravity and the way oxygen can influence player strategies, but it has not tweaked the core elements in any fundamental way.

The studio has not said what major changes it plans to implement in order to make sure the full sequel is successful or whether it will launch it in 2016 or later.

At the moment, Gearbox is also working with Telltale Games on its own Tales from the Borderlands series, with a second episodic series set to be launched soon.
