If there is room for innovation

The Nintendo Wii is now the most popular current-generation console, thanks to its innovative motion sensitive controls, its fun nature and the fact that it introduced a lot of people previously unattached to the gaming industry and to video games.

Electronic Arts, as any smart company, has really pushed to bring interesting projects to the platform, and one of its most successful ones is Boom Blox. As the company collaborated with famous movie producer Steven Spielberg on it, the mainstream appeal of the first and the second title in the series is unquestionable, as both of them are experiencing steady sales.

Speaking with VideoGamer, the head of the EA Bright Light studio, Harvey Elliott, who handled the development of the first two games, reveals that, if there is room for more innovations in the universe of Boom Blox, then a third iteration will arrive.

“I wouldn't say never. I really wouldn't,” Elliott says. “We've really enjoyed making it. This one does have a lot of new features over the last one. I'd want there to be a step again. I want to make sure that what we do steps it up again. The thing I want to do is watch the online community. We've actually connected to online - you can create your levels, you download them, you play them and upload your own. I want to see what happens there and then we'll make some decisions.”

The studio executive then concludes by saying, “Yeah, there are thousands of ideas that didn't make each of the games. I'm not worried about the ideas, I just want to make sure we make something special.”
