The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar subscribers have every reason to be happy now, since Codemasters and Turbine have announced the release of Book 13: Doom of the Last-King, the fifth content update since the MMORPG was launched. Unfortunately for the European players, this update is available only for the North American subscribers at the moment, but developers promise to bring it to Europe "soon".

Book 13: Doom of the Last-King continues the story of LOTRO and adds a completely new region to Middle Earth, a new Monster Play Class and introduces a new system to the MMO, called the hobby system (which means, in human words, that our virtual characters will now be able to go fishing and use the captured fish to cook in recipes or be mounted as trophies in the character's house).

"The Lord of the Rings Online has grown dramatically in scale, content and the size of our community in its first year of operation," said Jim Crowley, president and CEO of Turbine, Inc. "We've received a very positive response from players about the new region of Forochel and the long-awaited addition of fishing that adds an entirely new level of fun and enjoyment to the game. It's been an incredible first year and we are hard at work finishing up Book 14 slated for release this summer. All of us are very excited for our journey this fall into the Mines of Moria."

Except from the things already mentioned, this new LOTRO update will feature a new faction - the tribes of Lossoth. The inhabitants are suspicious to outsiders and they really have something against the Guaredain. Players will be able to help the tribe in their ancient fight against the enemies and get unique armor sets, weapons, a new mount, housing decorations, and class specific items as rewards.

Also, over 100 new quests are introduced, as well as the Defiler, the first new class for Monster Players. And knowing all this, we're sure the European players are a bit upset this update hasn't been launched in Europe, too.
