In an attempt to promote the shift from traditional writing models that use physical paper to its digital counterpart, Improv Electronics is gearing up to release a new writing slate, the Boogie Board Sync.

Now the device has shown up at the FCC and that tells us it will be ready to ship out pretty soon. The digital writing slate has been dubbed the Boogie Board Sync and comes bearing a 9.7-inch cholesteric LCD screen.

Created as an update to previous versions, the slate packs internal storage and Bluetooth for the first time. This means that those using the device to write on it will be able to sync the produced content with tablets and smartphone.

Unfortunately, users get only one color in which they can scribble down their notes. On the bright side of things, digital writers can save up their work, in order to send it further to Android or iOS devices. From there notes can be emailed or added into applications like Evernote and Adobe Illustrator.

The Sync has one last alternate use as it can be plugged into a computer with everything written on it being displayed on the PC screen. To be noted that battery should keep the Sync juiced up for as long as a week.

The slate is already available for pre-order on Amazon at the price of $99 / €76. It’s time to throw your old-fashioned notebooks away!
