Online matches are short and action-packed

Colorful online real-time strategy game Boid has been released on Steam, and developer Mokus has published a video showing what the game is all about.

Boid is about a drone that crash lands on an alien planet, starting to enable the primitive native life forms to mutate and evolve, developing special abilities and fighting for dominance and survival.

The game focuses on quick thinking and subterfuge, rather than simply overwhelming your opponent with superior manpower. The emphasis on fast action and split-second decision is enforced by the short maps and match durations, with games lasting mere minutes, as opposed to traditional economy-based real-time strategy games.

The design has been stripped to the core mechanics of the competitive strategy genre, offering gamers a streamlined experience, revolving around quick decisions and eight different classes of units, with abilities that can make a difference during confrontations.

A different take on real-time strategy

The action is simple and intuitive, you can take over a class base in order to give your units special abilities, and there are also three special bases that allow you to revert, freeze or teleport units.

Boid has been released on Steam Early Access with a very affordable price tag, with the goal being to build a strong community and to enhance and balance its features, ahead of the full launch, when the price will be bumped up.

The game is geared toward multiplayer action, with around 20 different battlegrounds to deploy troops in, for the time being.
